Hidden Objects
The object of this game is for children to reach inside the box without being able to see and identify various objects based on the way they feel. This is great for tactile development and gross motor skills.
SUPPLIES
- Shoebox
- Fabric
- Hot glue gun
- Pairs of small objects
- Exacto knife
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut fabric to the size of the box. Drape it over the top and tape down the sides.
- Make sure it’s nice and flat against the top then take the glue gun and secure around the edges. Do same thing around the entire box until all four sides are glued down. Take the corners and fold them like you’re wrapping a present and secure those with a hot glue gun as well.
- Use exacto knife to cut two holes in the top for kids’ hands to reach in.
- Now place goodies into the box. By doing things in pairs it adds a matching element, so child reaches into the box and pulls an item and has to reach back in to find the matching item.
Color Dice
The object of this game is to roll the dice and choose a card of that same color and then your child performs the action on the card.
SUPPLIES
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut the 6 different colored squares of the foam and attach to each side of the block with hot glue.
- Create 6 stacks of cards corresponding to the colors on the block. Each color will be a different category (ie, Actions, Body Parts, Emotions, Sounds, Counting, ABC).
- The child rolls the dice and picks a card to the corresponding color and follow instructions. This game is also really great to teach taking turns.
