Reuse Plastic Eggs 3 Ways All Year Long!

Despite your eco-friendly efforts, you know your kids are coming home with some darn plastic eggs, and if you’re like me, they are stuffed in your closet year round. So, let’s put them to some good use with these three seriously clever activities.

1.  Magnetic Eggs

  • Plastic eggs
  • Magnet wands (these are fun to have on hand in general)
  • Magnetic items like paper clips, binder clips, pipe cleaners.

This activity is ridiculously neat, a magnet wand will pick up the egg if there is anything magnetic inside.  More importantly, it will spin the egg. without. touching. it.  Ford’s mind = blown.  Age 3+

Egg Shakers

In addition to eggs you’ll need filler like rice, beans, and pasta, plastic spoons and any kind of tape. Fill up your eggs- the kids loved how different items made different sounds. Next, line up the spoons with the egg (they oddly fit perfectly, this was very satisfying) and wrap the tape (Washi for color or clear tape works great too!)

Egg Word Families

This is a  learning game I saw on Pinterest-  I wish I could take credit for this because it’s so cool. You use a sharpie to write letters that twist to make different words. This is exactly where Presley is right now trying to sound things out. For younger kids, you can do matching games with colors and numbers.
