Turns out plastic cups aren’t just for frat parties. From a telephone game that actually works, to a super fun and festive popper, here are five ways to reuse plastic cups.
Balloon Poppers
Tie the neck of a balloon, cut off the end of the rounded part and and wrap this around the lip of the cup. Next, cut open open the other side of the cup. Add pom poms, pull back and POP! Note: Strong cups work best, If you’ve got flimsy ones, double up.
String Telephone
Cut a small hole in the bottom of two cups. Connect with strong and secure with paper clips on either side. The key is keep the string completely taught and make sure nothing is touching it. Don’t expect perfect clarity, but you can actually hear someone’s voice from the other end, pretty cool.
Cup Towers
Materials:
- Plastic Cups
- Cardboard
Sure you can stack plastic cups, but by simply adding cardboard pieces, kids can take it to the next level, building structures that are taller than them!
Splash Cup
Water gun + cups = super fun and worth the set up… every. single. time. (Yeah, I had to do that stacking thing a lot).
Greenhouse Cups
- Plastic cups
- Seeds
- Plain old dirt or Miracle Gro type stuff
Plant seeds with dirt in a colored plastic cup, adding a second smaller clear cup for the “greenhouse” effect. Does this lid actually make it difference? I have no idea, but it looked legit and my kids loved it. Btw, I couldn’t the seeds I purchased, so I scrambled and planted some dry lentils.. and they actually grew sprouts!
